Join us at Centra on January 3 at 1pm to demand that Canada stops arming Israel by closing the U.S. loophole and enacting a TWO-WAY ARMS EMBARGO — Did you know that we are surrounded by weapons manufacturers in Waterloo Region? Factories here in Waterloo Region are helping build the F-35 fighter jet, one of the deadliest weapons used in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians. Local factories manufacture parts that are shipped to Texas for assembly, and the completed jets are delivered to Israel. This means our region is directly complicit in genocide. These jets drop 2,000-pound bombs on Gaza, massacring Palestinians, and destroying schools, hospitals, refugee camps, and entire neighbourhoods. At least nine companies in the region provide weapons or military support to Israel. Two manufacture parts for the F-35 on-site: Centra Industries and Magellan Aerospace. Canadian officials like Melanie Joly and Anita Anand claim Canada is not arming Israel. We know they’re lying. The US loophole allows Canada to arm Israel undeterred. It’s time to act.
